Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 November 2026
This Cookie Policy explains how bilingualslt.co uses cookies and similar browser storage (such as localStorage and sessionStorage), what each one is for, and how you can accept, refuse or change your choices. It is separate from our Privacy Policy, which covers how we handle personal information more generally.
Your choices
When you first visit, a consent banner asks for your choice. You can:
- Accept all optional categories;
- Deny all optional categories;
- View preferences and choose each optional category separately.
The Functional category is always active. Statistics storage is not used until you have agreed to it.
You can change or withdraw your choice at any time using the Cookie settings button in the footer at the bottom of every page. If you withdraw Statistics consent, Google Analytics stops running on the pages you load after that. Google Analytics cookies that were already set are not deleted automatically: they may stay in your browser until they expire or until you delete them through your browser settings.
Our consent tool keeps your choice for 180 days, after which we will ask again. We will also ask again if we change the categories we use. The separate copy of your choice that is passed to other parts of the site (the wp_consent_ cookies) lasts 30 days.
Necessary and functional storage
These items make the site work and keep it secure. They do not require consent.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
cp_challenge | Our hosting provider (GoDaddy) | Checks that a visitor is a real browser, to protect the site from automated abuse | First-party cookie, set when you first visit. We have not yet verified how long it lasts |
cmplz_banner-status, cmplz_functional, cmplz_preferences, cmplz_statistics, cmplz_marketing, cmplz_policy_id, cmplz_consented_services | Our consent tool (Complianz) | Remember that you have answered the consent banner, your choice for each category, and which version of this policy your choice applies to | First-party cookies, 180 days |
wp_consent_functional, wp_consent_preferences, wp_consent_statistics, wp_consent_statistics-anonymous, wp_consent_marketing | WP Consent API (used by our consent tool) | Pass your choice to other parts of the site so that they follow it | First-party cookies, 30 days |
| WordPress authentication cookies | WordPress | Keep you signed in to your BilingualSLT account, or to the account you used for past shop orders, and keep your signed-in session secure | First-party cookies, set only when you sign in |
Some of these consent records have names that refer to categories we don’t currently use, such as marketing. They only record the choice you made in the banner; they are not marketing or tracking cookies and don’t enable any marketing.
Submitting one of our forms (the contact form, the free-resource and family-updates sign-ups, the team licensing enquiry form or account sign-up) does not set any extra cookies of its own. The security and consent cookies listed above still apply while you use the site, including its forms, and signing in to an account sets the WordPress authentication cookies.
Preferences
We do not currently use any cookies in the Preferences category. Our consent tool offers it so that your choice can be passed to other parts of the site.
Statistics
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used, for example which pages are visited, so that we can improve it. Google Analytics is blocked until you give Statistics consent: before then, the Google Analytics script does not load, no measurement is sent to Google, and none of the cookies below are set. Google Analytics is not loaded for signed-in site staff.
| Name | Set by | Purpose | Type and duration |
|---|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics 4 | Used to distinguish users (Google’s description) | First-party cookie. Google’s documentation gives a default expiry of 2 years. When we checked in Chrome, it was set to expire after about 400 days |
_ga_7881P1GCPT | Google Analytics 4 | Used to persist session state (Google’s description) | First-party cookie. Google’s documentation gives a default expiry of 2 years. When we checked in Chrome, it was set to expire after about 400 days |
The expiry you see may differ, because browsers can shorten how long cookies last.
Marketing
We do not use marketing or advertising cookies or tags on this website.
Email newsletter and free resources
If you choose to receive emails from us, by ticking the optional box when you request a free resource, sign up for family updates or create an account, your details are sent to our email provider, Mailchimp, from our server. This does not use cookies in your browser, and Mailchimp’s own browser tracking code is not used on this site.
